阿波踊りフリークスの聖地、「岡忠」をしっているか？

During Awa-odori season, about 1 thousand dancing groups (Awa-odori dancing groups are called “Ren”) dance wildly throughout Tokushima city.
It is said that there are at least a hundred thousand of Awa-odori dancers.
“Okachu” is revered by Awa-odori dancers.
Okachu is a Awa-odori specialty shop in Sako, Tokushima city.

この踊り子たちの中で崇拝されているのが岡忠だ。
徳島市の佐古に店をかまえる、阿波踊りの専門店だ。

What is Okachu?
岡忠とは？

Okachu was founded as a mercery (Japanese kinono shop) in 1960. At first, the beginning, it was an ordinary mercery which had nothing to do with Awa-odori.
However, after Okachu? was founded, a famous Ren (Awa-odori group) began to wear Okachu brand costumes. From there, Okachu begain to recieve requests to manufacture Happi coats, the traditional Awa-odori costume.
Now, there are many Awa-odori fanatics who insist Awa-odori Happi coats have to be Okachu brand.

Guitars fanatics yearn for Gibson Les Paul, and…
Awa-odori fanatics are immensely proud of dancing in a costume from Okachu.

岡忠は、1960年に呉服屋として創業した。当初は阿波踊りとは無縁な至って普通の服屋だった。
しかし、創業とともに阿波踊りの有名連に入ったことがきっかけで、半被を製造依頼されるようになった。
いまでは、この岡忠ブランドじゃないと駄目とこだわるフリークスが相当数存在する。

ギターフリークスは、ギブソンのレスポールを羨望する。
阿波踊りフリークスは岡忠で作られた法被や衣装で踊ることが一番の誇りなのだ。

それが高円寺の豊喜屋だ。

Toyokiya is a store handling beddings, Futons and towels but also it’s the most famous Awa-odori store in Tokyo.
